We sponsor several fundraising events throughout the year. These funds are used to provide Family Fun Nights for our Durham Community, allow teachers to take students on field trips throughout the year, support the Art Literacy Program, supply our library with funds and books, and support our teachers with supplies and funds for their classrooms.
The 2021-2022 school year brings some really fun ways to participate and donate to the school!
Jog-a-Thon
This is one of our biggest events of the year and raises thousands of dollars for the school. Each student has the chance to collect sponsorships per-lap and cash donations. This year’s event has been rescheduled to the Spring due to COVID.

Read-A-Thon
Similar to the Jog-A-Thon, our students will participate in a reading contest that also raises funds to support the school. Each student will collect sponsorship money for each minute they read.
Book Fairs
Each fall and spring we are happy to offer a large book store from Scholastic, packed with materials for students at every grade levels to enjoy. Parents and students get to preview and shop for books all week long. Funds earned from this event go towards the purchase of new books and library equipment. This fall’s book fair will be virtual due to COVID.
Restaurant Nights
A few times a year, we partner with local restaurants to provide our families with a fun night eating out while raising valuable funds for the school. Our first restaurant night is October 5th at Bridgeport’s MOD Pizza. MOD Pizza will donate 20% of the proceeds we bring in back to Durham!
BoxTops
We participate in a nationwide fundraising program during the school year: General Mill’s Box Tops for Education. This program offers amazingly easy and almost unlimited opportunities for earning cash or merchandise credits for our school. Participating is easy: 1. Clip Box Tops from hundreds of your favorite products. Each Box Top is worth 10¢ to our school. 2. Send them to school with your student 3. Twice each year, Box Tops will send our school a check worth 10¢ for each Box Top redeemed, up to $20,000.
Matching Funds
If your employer offers matching funds for charitable contributions, don’t miss this chance to double fundraising power for the school. The Jog-a-Thon is a great opportunity to donate through your matching funds program. The PSO also accepts matching-funds donations at any time throughout the year. Contact our treasurer to donate.
